Must have strong medical records experience. 3rd Shift Position.  Pay is $12-14/hr DOE 
 
 
Summary: The HIM Document Imaging Technician is responsible for processing all patients’ medical records and all documents into the
document imaging system. This position has responsibility for ensuring the highest level quality of the documents through detailed document prepping, scanning and indexing. Through their required attention to detail all documents that are scanned into the document imaging system will be of good quality, will be assigned to the correct patient, correct encounter and will ensure the correct document naming convention has been utilized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Utilizes electronic chart tracking software to track discharged patients’ records (including inpatient,outpatient surgery, emergency
department, etc.); this may include record pick-up from patient care areas.
• Maintains accountability for the receipt and processing of all records, following up on any missing records to ensure all are accounted for
daily.
• Escalates to management all records not received within two days of discharge.
• This position is responsible for the detailed record review and prepping that is required for processing through the document imaging
system. Attention to document quality and adherence to the detailed document preparation requirements must be followed closely.
• This position requires great manual dexterity and an eye for details in order to ensure the quality of the Legal Health Record.
• Ensures that all charts are tracked and prepared to meet the required turnaround times for processing.
• This position will process the prepared records through the document imaging scanners, ensuring that all pages in the prepared batches
scan accurately.
• Performs daily cleaning of the scanning equipment to maximize their performance, ensure optimalimage quality and reduce delays in
processing, due to scanner malfunctions.
• Ensures that all charts are scanned to meet the required turnaround times for processing.
• Performs a detailed review of each page of the prepped and scanned batch in a screen to batch, page bypage analysis for indexing.
Ensuring all documents are accounted for, that they are indexed to the correct document, patient and encounter.
• This indexing step serves as a critical quality step, to ensure the documents quality, accuracy and overall LHR content is maintained.
• Verifies that bar-coded documents are reading correctly, informing a member of management when there is an issue with the bar-codes, so
they can be corrected.
• Ensures that all charts are indexed to meet the required turnaround times for processing.
• Reviews assigned work queue(s) daily and ensures timely processing of all assignments in the queues.
• Meets all quality and productivity standards on a consistent basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:One year previous experience in an acute care hospital medical records department required.Preferred experience with
document imaging systems such as Mckesson Horizon Patient Folder and Cerner. Reasoning
 
Ability:Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions utilizing critical thinking skips.
 
Ability to interpret technical instructions, in mathematical or diagram form, and recognize and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables required.
 
Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, the incumbent should proficient in the use of word processing software such as Micrososoft Word, spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and online meetings.
 
Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must,be met by an incumbe~t to successfully

This position requires being seated at a video monitor almost 95% of the time. Physical work will include lifting a maximum of 20 pounds or carrying and filing of medical records/documents weighing up ~ 10 pounds.
